Mark Silvern

Mark provides hands-on strategic and legal advice to early and middle stage technology, biotechnology, service, and other entrepreneurial companies.  Mark covers the entire line of services that the Law Office of Mark Silvern provides to its clients. 

Mark previously held Senior Corporate Counsel and Director of Practices positions at VeriSign, Inc., one of the world's largest internet infrastructure companies.  Mark started working for VeriSign in 1996 and worked there for over 6 years.  During that time, Mark played a significant role on the legal team of VeriSign, which grew from an early-stage start-up, to a publicly traded company with revenues of over 1.2 billion dollars.  

While at VeriSign, Mark focused on export, privacy, trademark, intellectual property, domestic and international commercial matters, and was also responsible for advising VeriSign and its partners on gaining compliance, licensure, accreditation, and/or recognition under both U.S. and international electronic and digital signature laws.  In addition, Mark advised U.S. and foreign government bodies on forming their own electronic and digital signature laws and regulations.  

In the past, Mark has spoken on digital signature technologies and corresponding legal issues to domestic and international business and governmental audiences, including in Brazil, Malaysia, and Singapore.  

Prior to his legal career, Mark worked for EDS as a Systems Consultant.    


Mark is a member of the State Bar of California and the State Bar of Massachusetts.
